Because we've come to realize that the expression "live your future" is about taking care of tomorrow today. Meaning, doing all the things you equally well could do today instead of post poning it to the next day. And doing this with joy by seeing your future self as a friend whom you want to make life as easy as possible for. If you act thoughtful towards yourself, the slacker you can have a nice day once in a while, instead of just waiting for the day goody-two-shoes-you will appear and take care of last weeks messes. And, because Gregory Peck is most likely the world's most handsome man both present and future.
Although this image looks insanely and meticulously styled, and American men have the broadest necks in the world, we see a sweetness shining through and that's about all we care for.

Ah, because between boyfriends is the new single. And because dark, medium-length hair and nice guys are the best.

One of the more amusing incidents of this summer was when our leopard jumpsuit was out in the Brooklyn night. A guy at Daddy's comes up and says he has made a bet with his friends and wonders if we could change clothes. It sounded like fun and we go into the bathroom together where an exchange of jeans, t-shirt and a significantly more festive outfit is made. As we return, half the establishment is wondering what the hell just happend. The guy, Matt from Pennsylvania, has The Time of His Life and his friends are most impressed. After a while it becomes rather boring to stand around in a pair of Levi's while someone else is living it up with the leopard, so we go back the restroom. Undressing once more he then says, "I can't believe we haven't made out yet." We were very tempted to say that "That's our line", but sometimes words are unnecessary.

Because Midnight in Paris is a delightful cliche of a French-American relations. And because French people define who they are by what they do outside of work and Americans define who they are by what they do at work. And because French people take food seriously and sex lightly while Americans take food lightly and sex seriously.

And because Woody Allen's Hemingway pour out unbeatable prose like;
"All men fear death. It's a natural fear that consumes us all. We fear death because we feel that we haven't loved well enough or loved at all, which ultimately are one and the same. However, when you make love with a truly great woman, one that deserves the utmost respect in this world and one that makes you feel truly powerful, that fear of death completely disappears. Because when you are sharing your body and heart with a great woman the world fades away. You two are the only ones in the entire universe. You conquer what most lesser men have never conquered before, you have conquered a great woman's heart, the most vulnerable thing she can offer to another. Death no longer lingers in the mind. Fear no longer clouds your heart. Only passion for living, and for loving, become your sole reality. This is no easy task for it takes insurmountable courage. But remember this, for that moment when you are making love with a woman of true greatness you will feel immortal. "

Because our boss say wonderful things like; "My bullshit flows more freely in the afternoon" and has a desk decorated with signs such as; "Things are getting worse, send more chocolate". And we love that, nearly as much as we would like to hang out and bs with bad boy teenager Woody Harrelson.

Because we can't remember the last time we saw a man in a tie and a plaid shirt. And because you encompass the very mis-leading notion of the man as a stable, funny, great dad, great lover, hard working and reliable God.

Because for some reason you makes us think of a younger, European Julian Casablancas. And after seeing Somewhere, the song I'll try anything once again reminds of us the genius of those New York boys and the simple beauty of well chosen words;

When I said; 'I can see me in your eyes',
you said; 'I can see you in my bed'.
That's not just friendship that's romance too,
you like music we can dance to.

Okay, so most people look better in our book when sporting a beard, and possibly glasses, knowing how to play an instrument and standing on a street in Soho. Still, if you really want to make it, we do suggest a little bit of trimming.

Because you are black-and-white men, smoking cigarettes and carrying paperbacks in your pockets, looking like models just by leaning against a wall. And because Jack Kerouac said; "Maybe that's what life is...a wink of the eye and winking stars.”

Monday, May 10, 2010

Because you brought us the life changing discovery, that is not what your do, or how you do it but rather why you do it. Why as in "your purpose, your cause, your belief. Why do you get out of bed in the morning, and why should anyone care?" And because you embody the smart, well-spoken American in a shirt, that we find immensely attractive.

In preparation for the summer season in the Hamptons, or in the pizza dens of Brooklyn, at least one of us is embracing the prospects combining hairy chests with smooth talk, or just appreciating the classic-american-east-coast-ivy-leauge-meets-Italian-style.

Something that we are definitely missing is the very handsome, well-dressed, intellectual, super smart student who loves a good home assignment as much as enjoying a dance in the forest rain or lying in bed writing love letters. Although we are still doubting his existence, Gant serves up three guys playing the part splendidly.
* - WHEN WILL YOU MARRY ME???
JW - I will consider marriage if you come with a significant dowry. A couple of goats should do the trick...
* - Great! I'll talk to dad about sorting out some camels.
BTW, you are a business developer. Can't you see the potential?
I am like Apple stocks in the early 90's.
JW - It is good to have that sort of self-confidence. I tend not to be the first investor though ;-)
* - Hahahaha. I'll get back to you once I've gotten my first divorce.

In real life, Don Draper would be a douche deluxe, but in the handy format of a dvd-box we feel inclined to take a swirl on the dance floor, down some cocktails and be unfaithful creative directors.

Or to put it in the words of Peggy Olsen, when another of the Mad Men asks how the hell she got a window office of her own:
"I'm sleeping with Don. It's really working out."

Well, evidently there is a piece of clothing that makes any man look like a special agent, a playboy, a heart breaker, and, best word of the year; make out-able.

Another Christmas reading from The Economist, concering on of our more intagible great loves; United States of America.

In America, people with unusual hobbies are generally left alone. And power is so devolved that you can more or less choose which rules you want to live under. If you like low taxes and death penalty, try Texas. For good public schools and subsidiesed cycle paths, try Portland, Oregon.

The article further discuss;
...that countries and regions and cities are engaged in a global battle for talent. The most creative people can live more or less where they want. They tend to pick places that offer not only material comfort but also the stimulation of being surrounded by other creative types. This make life more fun. It also fosters technological progress. When clever people cluster, they can bounce ideas off eachother. This is why rents are so high in Manhattan.
Yes, sir. But there are plenty of free drinks, too.
Not to mention all those intellectual New York men.

Possibly, because few family fathers are as horrible, yet appealing as Clark Griswold, and in the end, sometimes it is better to have a heart that is bigger than your brains.

Let's make out behind the bleachers after football practice, before you have to run off to Astronomy Club meeting.

"motions to herself and says 'i have to fix this'. she points to her heart, i say 'now we ought to fix this'. she points to my head and says, 'for heavens sake, fix this'. a muted scene in thirds, with good intentions that spoil as a shopkeep sweeps the day before from the sidewalk to the street."

Tyler Magyar, we love the poet you are, in combination with the gourmand, explorer of the world, furniture maker, cookie baker, wine taster, and definitely all that meta-babble.
