From the first moonlit night, both of them broke their hearts in the fierce love of inexperience. But Angeles Alfaro left as she had come, with her tender sex and her sinner's cello, on an ocean liner that flew the flag of oblivion, and all that remained of her on the moonlit roofs was a fluttered farewell with a white handkerchief like a solitary sad dove on the horizon, as if she were a verse from the Poetic Festival. With her Florentino Ariza learned what he had already experienced many times without realizing it: that one can be in love with several people at the same time, feel the same sorrow with each, and not betray any of them. Alone in the midst of the crowd on the pier, he said to himself in a flash of anger: "My heart has more rooms than a whorehouse."

One would charm grandma completely with his eloquence and tall, blond appearance. Another would be cuddled up, reading next to us in her turqoise leather sofas and join us for a Florida vintage shopping spree at the Goodwill stores. One would curse the capitalist ways as we drive along the Tamiami, and we would engage in delightful arguments over the Turkey.
The fourth would, au contraire, praise the entrepreneurial spirit, but besides that we're not sure what he would be up to. Another would most likely enjoy everything, but a highlight might be lying close together on a blanket on the beach.
Yes, yes, we know the difference between dream and reality. But to quote The Economist's end-of-year-issue further and The Idea of Progress; "Everytime someone tells you to "be realistic" they are asking you to compromise your ideals."
And that's something we try to avoid to the greatest extent.
In America, people with unusual hobbies are generally left alone. And power is so devolved that you can more or less choose which rules you want to live under. If you like low taxes and death penalty, try Texas. For good public schools and subsidiesed cycle paths, try Portland, Oregon.
...that countries and regions and cities are engaged in a global battle for talent. The most creative people can live more or less where they want. They tend to pick places that offer not only material comfort but also the stimulation of being surrounded by other creative types. This make life more fun. It also fosters technological progress. When clever people cluster, they can bounce ideas off eachother. This is why rents are so high in Manhattan.
I have a history of making decisions very quickly about men. I have always fallen in love fast and without measuring risks. I have a tendency not only to see the best in everyone, but to assume that everyone is emotionally capable of reaching his highest potential. I have fallen in love more times than I care to count with the highest potential of a man, rather than with the man himself, and I have hung on to the relationship for a long time (sometimes far too long) waiting for the man to ascend to his own greatness. Many times in romance I have been a victim of my own optimism.
— Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia)
Although, we dissmissed this book as American-bestseller-chick-lit-crap at first, we soon came to appreciate its greatness, if not that of Miss Gilbert herself. One of the girls found it a suiting topic for a wintertime tea break, and as most things concerning optimism and romance, in our world it is timeless.
This lad does not quite fill that position, but comes pretty close in radiating some of that California sunshine.
"Mogna, bli vuxen"?

We love your oil dripping tortilla, that you can't find potatoes in Brooklyn and that you always speak your mind. Nobody quite captures the term Latino lover the way you do, or would leave a finance career in London for the arts. And we are very much looking forward to see the autobiographical Jorge-movie.

And we also enjoy "Laughing, losing control, cutting it up, getting in and out of trouble, paid, laid, in the way, inebriated by music, messing things up and sorting them out again."
being children of of our time.
The most recent 'Aha'-experience of mainstream-ness came from Paste Magazine's Evolution of the Hipster spread. It lists the different gals and guys of the 21st Century's first decade and we couldn't have been provided with a more accurate inventory of our favorite boys;
2000 The Emo - check, check
2002 The Ashton - check
2004 The Twee - check
2006 The Mountain Man - check, check, check,
check, check, check, check, check, etc.
2008 The Williamsburg - check, check, check
Because you were a social conscious, consumption critic before today's skånska rappers could drop a beat, your favorite candy is French Delights, so much of what you create is a wet dream of pastels and we love the Johan Renck-turquoise&wooden panels™.
By the way, it's not wasted youth. Growing old is a privilege denied to many.

Listening to Jay-Z Unplugged today we got the urge to do a cover called Boys, boys, boys. Because we love boys. And although we are all about celebrating fantastic men, there is also the clearly stated invitation to some actual kissing (vi är vad vi heter, so to speak) as well as the therapeutic aspect, with an unbeatable cost-benefit track record.
Someone said that ' The best way to get over a guy is to get under another'. Another wise woman said, 'The best way to get over a guy is to turn him into a blog post'.
We have not had the pleasure to meet beautiful Tom, so we're just assuming that he is into cakes and domesticated animals, an excellent photographer, and if possibly that day comes, we don't wanna get over you.
